Lye based window manufacturers, ATB Systems Ltd, has exhibited at the Design in Mental Health conference and exhibition at the National Motorcycle Museum, Solihull on the 14 and 15 May.  They have unveiled two new windows designed specifically to meet the needs of the mental health sector.  ATB Systems have shown the Taurus Max Horizontal Slider and an Automated parallel Opening Window for the first time.

Dave Simms, Commercial Manager of ATB Systems said: “The exhibition gave us the ideal opportunity to showcase these products to a sector that could greatly benefit from the features of these windows.  We were pleased to receive so much interest.”

The Automated Opening Windows are the latest addition to the Taurus Max range of security performance windows and doors.  The windows have been designed with concealed activators so that there are no unsightly or protruding fittings, resulting in clean and safe internal lines.  Furthermore, the windows can be operated remotely from a chosen location.  They have also been designed with the option of being linked to an internal management system programmed to open or close depending on a range of options, such as room temperature, CO2 levels or external weather conditions.  The automatic activators are available for ATB’s Taurus Max Parallel Opener, Casement window and smoke vents.  To meet both high specification requirements for enhanced security and versatility in the same system, ATB’s ‘built in’ glass protection mesh using their unique integral profiles, can be combined in the same system.

Equally, the Taurus Max Horizontal Slider has also been designed as the ideal solution for applications where space may be limited and standard window openings would cause an internal or external obstruction, but where high security is still of paramount importance.  The Taurus Max Horizontal Slider has the option of being fitted with an anti-vandal mesh integrated into the window profile and has anti ligature handles.  The Taurus Max windows are also available in a dual colour option for internal and external elevations.

The Design in Mental Health Conference and Exhibition offered an opportunity to show-case the latest products and services designed to improve facilities to make them more welcoming and therapeutic without compromising safety and security.  The event has been well attended by those with an interest in mental health; from the professionals involved in creating, maintaining and delivering the next generation of mental healthcare facility to the clinical staff who deliver the service within them and the service users and carers.
